The San Luis Obispo County Bar Association sponsors the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS), a non-profit organization to help bridge the community regarding legal matters together with qualified, experienced attorneys.
Our mission
Our goal at the LRIS is to uphold the high standards of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association by exemplifying our core values and Mission Statement:
“To promote the honor and dignity of the legal profession, to educate its members and the public, to foster the highest professional standards, to encourage collegiality among its members, to advance the fair and effective administration of justice, and to provide and recognize public service as it relates to this mission.”
LRIS attorney qualifications
When you contact the LRIS, we will listen to your needs and concerns to help match you to the right lawyer for your case. All of our LRIS panel attorneys undergo an extensive screening process to ensure that they meet the following qualifications:
- Possesses the continuing education requirement
- Meets the minimum experience requirement
- Maintains up-to-date experience in the lawyer’s respective field
- Good standing with the State Bar of California
- Carries professional liability insurance
What does it cost?
For a nominal $50.00 fee, you receive a consultation of up to 30 minutes with a knowledgeable and experienced attorney. We will make every effort to try to match you to a lawyer who is in your area; otherwise, we will schedule a phone consultation with an LRIS attorney to discuss your legal matter.
