Family Law

Do you need a San Luis Obispo County divorce and custody lawyer?

Any legal change that happens to your family creates a substantial and lasting impact. In some cases, the change is positive with the adoption of a child or a successful blending of two families. Unfortunately, family law tends to revolve around more heartrending issues such as divorce, child custody, and other painful family-related matters. When facing any legal family issue, especially ones involving marital disputes, you need to have a strong lawyer who has the ability to help you work through such problems.

How can the San Luis Obispo County Lawyer Referral and Information Service help?

There are many aspects of family law, so finding the right attorney who focuses on your specific legal needs is crucial. At LRIS, we can refer you to lawyers who practice in various areas of family law:

  • Marriage – annulment, legal separation, domestic partnership dissolution, and divorce
  • Children – custody and visitation, child support, adoption, and paternity claims
  • Finances – prenuptial agreements, alimony, and real estate and/or business disputes
  • Other family-related matters

We make sure that all of the lawyers in our referral program meet our prescreening qualifications. Each of them must be in good standing with the State Bar and have professional liability insurance. In addition, the lawyers are frequently screened to confirm that they have up-to-date experience in their respective legal field. Having these standards ensures that you will only be referred to a high-performing family law attorney.

How does the LRIS work?

Contact us so that we can refer you to an experienced family law attorney. Fill out the Online Request Form or call one of our LRIS operators at (805) 541-5502, Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

After you provide information about your family situation and pay a nominal $25.00 administrative fee, we will arrange a consultation of up to 30 minutes with an experienced bankruptcy lawyer. When arranging a consultation, we want to cater to your needs. If possible, an appointment with a family law attorney will be provided near your preferred area and around your schedule. Or, if you prefer, we will coordinate a telephone consultation.

You and the lawyer are not obligated to proceed with legal services beyond the consultation. If you find that your legal family issue requires further legal assistance and you decide to hire the attorney to continue working on your behalf, you and the attorney will determine the fees to be charged.
